By The Light Of The Cash Machine
(Tilbrook/Sexsmith)

Tonight is so lovely
And stars are twinkling bright
And they’re almost as pretty
As this row of streetlights

With you everything is wonderful and new
I feel as I though I’ve never been used
Do you know what I mean?

So I kiss you by the light of the cash machine

With me everything is turning out to be
A kind of slapstick tragedy
Do you know what I mean?

So I kiss you by the light of the cash machine
As we walk through the wee hours I feel fine
In my thoughts are hoping
That before the stores open you’ll be mine

‘Cos with you I feel as though I’ve never been used
Everything is wonderful and new
Do you know what I mean?

So I kiss you by the light of the cash machine

  1. Glenn would frequently open his solo sets with this one, co-written by Ron Sexsmith – a great songwriter and incurable romantic. It’s worth checking out some of his records too – he has about ten at this stage!
