Take Me I’m Yours
(Difford/Tilbrook)
I’ve come across the desert
To greet you with a smile
My camel looks so tired
That it’s hardly worth my while
To tell you of my travels
Across the golden East
I see your preparations
Invite me first to feast
Amusing belly dancers
Distract me from my wine
Across Tibetan mountains
Are memories of mine
I’ve stood some ghostly moments
With natives in the hills
Recorded here on paper
My chills and thrills and spills
It’s really been some welcome
You never seem to change
A grape to tempt your leisure
Romantic gestures strange
My eagle flies tomorrow
It’s a game I treasure dear
To seek the helpless future
My love at last I’m here
Take me I’m yours
Because dreams are made of this
Forever there’ll be
A heaven in your kiss
First time i heard this was Tim Curry’s cover of it on his 1981 release “Simplicity”. Cool version of it, but once I heard the original, I was hooked on it. Best track from the debut album.
@catdad, I love hearing other artists covers of Squeeze songs. Do you have a copy of that version?
@tygre97, I do. It’s on my old computer in the corner of my room, but i think it’s on my ipod somewhere among the Squeeze. You may have a shot at finding it on Itunes or any other downloading service.
Thanks, I’ve found it on YouTube. For such a relatively minor hit there are a lot of covers of it. It’s another one of the Squeeze songs where its popularity belies its eventual chart position.
@tygre97, wow, only knew of the Tim Curry version. I’ll check it out on Youtube. Btw, I checked out some songs on the myspace tribute page. Very nice. Love “Seperate Beds”.
Hi!
can someone tell me who else covered “take me i’m yours”. I heard a newer cover of it recently but can’t remember the name of the group or singer. it had a heavier sound, like maybe a marilyn manson style version. any help on this would be appreciated. this is driving me crazy.
thx,
Steve
Here are just a few of the covers:

You can always do a quick YouTube search and see who else has covered it.
