Sobriety

Sobriety
(Difford/Hewerdine)

I first found my sobriety
A challenge a curse
I lay upon a rubber sheet
And looked up at the nurse
The room began to spin around
And then I fell asleep
My life was all about to change
While I was digging deep

Sobriety
Sobriety

I sobered up and saved myself
From darkness and retreat
Each day was like a chapter
In a book I’d learnt to read
I hung on like a blackbird
To a very fragile tree
As the wind of change
It whipped around and so it lifted me

Sobriety
Sobriety

What you hear here
What you see here
Let it stay here
I want to be here
In my new found
In my rent free
Sobriety

What you hear here
What you see here
Let it stay here
I want to be here
In my new found
In my rent free
Sobriety

I walked the talk
And did the things
Suggested in the rooms
Eventually I found myself
Back up with the balloons
I did the best that i could do
From ever getting high
By always living in the day
Just one day at a time
