I was at that show (as I was at most every NYC show Squeeze played in the area in those years). Was a nice triumph for the boys, who never got over in America as they deserved, but built quite a nice following in the area, enough to put decent sized crowd. A&M Records had a nice press party for the band in an ice cream parlor (name of the place lost in my memory) in the East Village on a second floor up above Sheridan Square. That’s where I met my still dear and now longtime friend Lucy, native of Cornwall, now residing in Cambridge, then living in NYC for two more weeks during which we spent nearly all our waking time hanging out, even went down to Philadelphia to see Squeeze with Split Enz – a pop/rock dream double bill – on the 26th.

Love this site. Must someday go through and recall every show of the many I’ve seen, not just in New York but Dallas, Nashville and Austin and even their “last” shows in New York, London and Montego Bay, Jamaica when they broke up not too long after this.
