This was my second Squeeze show. I was in England for two weeks with my German roommate, visiting her boyfriend in High Wycombe. Checked the local paper and was DELIGHTED to see Squeeze were playing while I was in the country. I phoned up the ticket office at 2am right after reading the ad! My friends were not Squeeze fans, so I had to plan my trip to London and back and headed out all by myself. I got their hours early hoping to see Squeeze or meet some Squeeze fans. Some younger fans were there – a girl with pink hair stands out in my memory. Once the concert started I ended up near the front left so I could see Paul Carrack up close (at the time I was such a fan of his). I was surrounded by 30-something fans of Aimee Mann. Never got to meet other Squeeze fans or see Squeeze. I would have loved to hang around after the show and try to meet them, but I had to very quickly catch a taxi to Marylebone station so I wouldn’t miss the last train to High Wycombe. I bought a Some Fantastic Place shirt and baseball cap. Of course the show was great. Highlights for me were when Paul Carrack sang a bit of Aimee Mann’s “Stupid Thing” and Aimee Mann and Glenn singing “Is That Love” and touching fingers at the very last words of the song ‘… the easier love is found now that is love’. While waiting for the train home, I phoned my father and brother in New York to talk about the show and they had just seen Squeeze and Aimee Mann in New York the week before (at the Beacon?) so they had lots to say about it, too. ;-)
