Hi all,

Just got back in from seeing Squeeze at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge – fantastic!

I arrived at 8.40pm – and walked straight down the left hand side of the venue to the front of the stage – great spot!

Started with Black Coffee In Bed – getting the crowd to sing along and stopping to hear them in their FIRST song! Followed by v loose jam like ending. Followed by (not in exact order):

Goodbye Girl,
Up The Junction,
Tempted,
It’s So Dirty,
Annie Get Your Gun,
When The Hangover Strikes,
The Knack,
Someone Else’s Heart,
Hourglass,
Is That Love,
Labelled With Love,
Loving You Tonight,
If It’s Love,
Cool For Cats,
Pulling Mussels,
Slap and Tickle.

Have probably missed a couple off here but – in short, they sounded BETTER THAN EVER!!!!!

Loving Steve Nieve back on the keys – I saw him the first time round. My particular fave highlights were ‘Goodbye Girl’ no partuclar reason – not even one of my fave Squeeze songs – just sounded great. And ‘Someone Else’s Heart’ which I’ve never heard them play live before – talk about songs I grew up to! (am 33 btw – my Dad just played them constantly when we were growing up).

Oh yes, I now know what the ‘surprise’ is too – which I thought was very good – I never thought I’d EVER see Squeeze do that! (of course, for anyone still to see them on this tour I won’t ruin the surprise.

Had a great night. The fellas were on top form and with an enthusiastic audience, was the perfect chemistry for everyone to have great fun! I shan’t bother to review the gig further as Carl has done a great job summing it all up. Suffice to say, I am very excited about the other gigs now.
I love you, Squeeze!!!!

Cambridge. A wonderful city to wander around in winter. Hot drinks on market stalls, small independent retailers, pre-show dinner at Carluccio’s with my son and a good bottle of red and Squeeze at The Corn Exchange. Fab.

The Corn Exchange is a beautiful Victorian brick building in an ornate style with decorative beams and arches and was packed with a hot crowd. Squeeze didn’t disappoint with a brilliant set. Fans were screaming “We love you Chris” (yes, you know who you are) and he was loving it.

I took a few photos and a video from the pit during the encore, so will post them nearer the end of the tour. A great evening! A big thanks to Tami and Alex for a friendly welcome :-)

Did I shout that? I’m not so sure I did!! Perhaps it just came out as these things so often do!

Glad you liked Cambridge…I must admit to being really fond of the place and the Corn Exchange was where I saw Squeeze for the very first time.

Anyway, it was a great night and was good to meet again. See you at Indigo!

I can’t really add to Carl’s review, fantastic round up of the night. Being my first ever squeeze gig (and gig for a long time), it was wonderful. Shall defiantly be going to see them again!

Anyway I must sign up to this site now.

to accompany John Bently on Shaker percussion & even Steve Nieve coming out from behind his keyboard to play his little handheld keyboard thingy (dont know what there called..!)
Chris’s vocals..especially on “Slaughtered Gutted & Heartbroken” were excellent, Glen’s vocals & guitaring were out of this world..!
Simon’s drumming was powerful & precise & also great sympathetic brush work on “Hangover”. Steve Nieve was “out there” & was clearly getting into the zone in a big way & i thought his keys were a great addition to the overall sound, & a special mention to John Bently, as I was standing right in front of him, it was great to see up close, some of the great Bass lines he was playing, & he was clearly having a fantastic time,& engaging the audience superbly. The visuals in the backdrop were also very well done..especially in Up the Junction. Final song…a rip roaring version of “Mussels” which left us all wanting more, but sadly it was not to be.
Overall, a fantastic night…now, all we need is a new album of new material, so they can tour again..!”
