I’d love to hear the full version (if there is one) of the Channel 4 comedy “Father’s Day”, written by D&T but sung by Paul Young. It’s one of those songs that’s stuck in my head but I’ve not heard properly in nearly 30 years. I think I can remember hearing a recording of it on the old Squeezefan website or Corina’s Babylonandon. Another one of those itches that needs scratching!
No problem Tyrone – I’ll post the full 3 minute version of Fathers’ Day next then! It’s a great arrangement – and typically Squeeze. If only Paul Young had sung more of their material!
Thanks David. Yes, you’re right about the arrangement, instantly recognisable as Squeeze. Would I be correct in thinking that it was recorded at about the same time as SFAS? Paul did some of the backing vocals to Black Coffee.
Father’s Day ran from its Premiere in April, 1983 to the final show in August 1984, so just after Sweets From A Stranger and before Difford and Tilbrook. I’ll post it at the weekend for you :)
