This was my first ever Squeeze gig, I was 14, and I couldn’t believe I was finally getting to see them. I went with 2 school friends, Ant and Jo, and me and Jo spent all day getting ready, I even had a bath, which till this day is part of my Squeeze ritual. I wore my black drills and Argy Bargy t-shirt that June (Jool’s mum) had sent me, when she was running the fanclub, wouldn’t fit any particular part of me now! I had all my little button badges on, and came out with more than I went in with, as many had fallen on the floor.

I hadn’t really enjoyed Labelled with Love until I saw it done live, and the reaction of the audience gave it a new dimension. The crowd chanted ‘Goodbye Girl’ in those days for the encore. I really enjoyed Someone Else’s Heart, that was pretty intense for me.

The Rainbow was only down the road for me too, you just hop on a 279, oh how I miss hopping on a 279.

John Otway and Wild Willy Barret supported, they were a couple of loonies (in the nicest possible sense), famous for a song called ‘Headbutts’.

I floated all the way home. My head clashed like a symbol when it hit the pillow. My parents were’nt very happy that I put the gig poster up in the living room, but I didn’t care!
