Review written next day…..
Funny little s***hole of a venue which was packed to the rafters by the time Glenn ambled on in his parka to plug in his own guitars (no Suzanne then). The support, a local trio (normally a 5-some) called The Scooters, were excellent…..great harmonies. Glenn opened with the Fountains of Wayne song, and rattled through a wide variety of stuff, mostly old Squeeze with some solo material and a few covers thrown in. Very memorable moments….Touching Me Touching You, a fantastic Vanity Fair, Voodoo Chile of course, Cash Machine…the list is endless, it was all memorable. Glenn was having trouble with his voice cracking, he said it had been crap the night before, and he relied on the audience to join in with many songs where he was struggling a bit; of course, being mostly Welshmen and women (with a few token English like moi!) they obliged and nearly raised the roof.
Someone should tell him he’s working too hard! Just hoping he can manage to keep going for tonight in Bristol!!
