at last nights squeeze concert at radio city 7-13-10 did the band play the song another nail in my heart. i cant remember.

  They didn’t play Another Nail in My Heart at Radio City – it’s one of the encore songs that they are mixing up and varying on the different dates on the tour to keep the encores fresh. They played Pulling Mussels (From the Shell) instead.

The boys were fabulous! Appeared to be having a ball up there–they looked and sounded great. We were sitting at Chris’ end and he roamed the stage quite a bit which made us very happy. Glenn’s voice is lovely as ever, Simon, Lord Stephen and John gave it their all-
I loved hearing Someone Else’s Heart, Hope Fell Down, etc… not sure how some of the crowd felt about that. I guess if they played a small venue with just Squeeze diehards maybe the band could perform something from the Play album, and the crowd would appreciate it–anyway, I digress-

Aside from my perpetual complaint of the set never being long enough for me, and they cut Another Nail this time,( my favorite song of all time), it was a terrific show.
I forgot to mention, my daughters and I were ecstatic when we walked in and saw Cheap Trick’s gear onstage-nothing against them, they were good, their fans seemed to be enjoying it, but we were there for one reason only!!!

I am calling the New Jersey venue to see who is opening there, if Squeeze is last I am considering going late, I’m just afraid if there is a last minute change– I shudder to think of it!!

thanks i am going on sunday and we always try to guess the songs they are going to play so i figured i would be funny this time and state the song and everyone would be like what the heck?how did you know type of thing.

The band were on excellent form last night – a great show with a superb version of Slap and Tickle. The sound was great with Chris’ guitar ringing out incredibly clearly for once which added a brittle staccato edge to the whole performance. Loved it.

The show was GREAT! Only thing they forgot was my favorite song – Another nail for my heart.
But everything else was great – Why did Chris and Glenn switch places? I couldn’t see Simon ’cause of the speakers. Maybe Sunday they’ll play more – take out Loving you tonite.

Love Squeeze, have seen them everytime in NYC. Regarding last night, perhaps it was my seats (MM, all the way to the left-in front of Chris) but the sound mix was poor. Way too much bass, could barely make out Glenn’s voice and his solos were lost in the muddy bass.Regarding “Loving You Tonight”, it is a great song, but they changed the style and Glenn didn’t Wah-Wah it like on the album and Carrack sings that very soulfully (Tempted No. 2). As far as Play goes, their most under-rated, overlooked album. It is absolutely a gem, but it had high production values and could be very difficult to do some of the songs live, but “Walk a Straight Line” is a song they should consider adding.
With regards to Cheap Trick, they sounded great but just too much distortion and not enough finesse. Why not play “The Flame”? Isn’t that their greatest commercial hit?

  Shame the sound wasn’t good for you James – I was right at the front in front of Chris and it sounded just great to me. The acoustics must be quite complex in such an ornate Art Deco theatre. When it comes to the set list, they’ll just have to tour again and do all your favourites from Play then!

    David, I heard Glenn and Chris on the radio Wednesday morning. They were asked about Tempted and Paul Carrack. Glen mentioned that next year is the 30th anniversary of the release of “East Side Story”, and hinted at a possible reunion tour–it was only a hint. I am sure when the time comes you will keep us informed!!

      East Side Story is easily their best work, so this is a possibility. What we’d maybe see is something like what happened with Frank, Sweets and Ridiculous in 2007/8 with a Deluxe Edition been released. I suppose the problem they’d face is the ESS demos have already been released by Glenn, so I guess it would have b-sides and live tracks on? But yeah, that would be my guess, a tour to celebrate the release of East Side Story: 30 Year Anniversary Edition. I certainly hope so anyway :)

    Hey Packetofthree I was also right at the front in front of Chris (MM is 13 rows back). When I saw them at the Westbury theatre last time around it was insane. The venue is so intimate…it was like having them play in my basement. Anyway, they can never do any wrong as far as I am concered.
