Travelling to Nottingham tonight I laughed when I saw that the city has ‘Car Park Radio’ advertised on the roads. “Why would anyone want to listen to radio about which car park to park in?” I thought. I wasn’t laughing half an hour later as I queued to get in a car park next to the Royal Centre. I was trapped. It didn’t move. Fifteen minutes later I finally got to the front of the queue to see the sign ‘1 in 1 out’. Luckily some weary shopper arrived so I could take their place.

I was lucky I didn’t pull any muscles running down Maid Marion Way to get to the venue (see what I did there?) I arrived in my seat with just a few minutes to spare before the lights went down.

This Squeeze show is a real pleasure because it’s got such large production values. The lighting is the best I’ve seen them with, the film projection is classy and varied, the cartoon characters of the band are amusing and their are comedic interludes in the show – I won’t spoil it for you – but I laughed and laughed and laughed!

The audience were out of their seats and on their feet from the opening bars of Black Coffee In Bed and only sat down for When the Hangover Strikes. The band looked smart and sassy – they’re sponsored by Fred Perry no less for their tour diary – Glenn was happy and smiling, Chris sang lots of numbers and did his little dances, John boogied uncontrollably, joking with his friends in the audience, Simon was Mr Cool in his hat and Steve Nieve gave the whole performance some edge with his solos. Marvellous.

Time for some sleep before Sheffield!

What can I say… Squeeze just get better with age! The gig was brilliant, lively non-stop music for what was far too short a time period! We had an amzing time, dancing, singing and reliving memories from Town and Coutnry Club gigs many moons ago. nice to see you back on the road guys – keep up the great work.

Despite being a Squeeze fanatic, I was distraught at not knowing “Hope Fell Down” – where is this song and how can I get hold of it?!

Took my Dad for his birthday as a thank you for introducing me to the band at the tender age of 5 in 1979 and Up The Junction, I was hooked ever since.

Brilliant gig, great show, great dancing! Amazing…..

  Hope Fell Down was a song on the 1984 Difford and Tilbrook album. It’s a fantastic song and has really come alive this tour. I’m so glad you enjoyed the gig! :-)
