Just got back from seeing Squeeze at Southampton! We had a great time. We were right at the front and close to Chris. Perfect evening. Brilliant performances. Can’t wait for next tour dates. The evening was my sister’s 40th birthday present from me to her – what a good idea of mine!

Just arrived back from the best Squeeze gig I have ever seen :) The band are visably more relaxed than the 2007 tour and are employing more of the fun we have become accustomed to from their solo gigs.

They sounded spectacular, (a huge credit to them as the guildhall is not designed for music and I have heard bands who sound great elsewhere fall flat there). Glenns solos really sparkled. The lighting effects added to the excitement and the backdrops really worked well – hope the “up the junction” cartoon makes it’s way onto smmc:)

Loved the lightning seeds, rememberd almost every song – what an amazing 2-4-1 deal…

Lovely to meet up with a few facebook friends in person and great to meet up with Liz once again it seems ages since the last festival now.

Not so much a review as an overexcited rant from me, too excited to sleep now :)

Fantastic gig, even better than when I saw them at The Hexagon a couple of weeks ago, this line up really seems to have gelled now.

John Bentley is like a man possessed now! All over the stage and just exuding confidence as well as great bass lines.

Did anybody else spot the microphones pointing out to the crowd? Are they recording some of this tour for a potential live CD?

  They’ve recorded every gig of the tour so far and have mixed several of them. Their sound engineer is a marvel and left me to listen to a gig on his laptop. He’s got the audience miked up and the balance of the sound and clarity of the recordings is first class. I don’t know if they’re going to do anything with them but the sound quality is better than Five Live as there’s a meatier bass and drums.

  Many of the gigs have been streamed live over the Internet by Webcast to family and friends too – so if you see a webcam, wave as their mums and dads might be watching!

    I did wonder why they haven’t done what Crowded House did on their last couple of tours, and offer a recording of each gig to the audience that were there. Would be great to have the opportunity to purchase a memento of the gig that you were at.
    
    As good as Five Live was, Glenn’s voice was a bit ravaged on it, whereas on Monday night at the Guildhall, it was crystal clear.

      I’m pretty sure they’ve investigated doing the same thing but financially it doesn’t stack up and artistically it’s hard to control I think.

Hi I went with my neice Lucy to see Squeeze & they were absoutely fantasic! it’s true what everyone is saying though they are sooo much more relaxed than last time & are having fun now. Very good to see.
