That was a truly wonderful evening. XTC’s Fossil Fuels playing out as the audience came in (strange choice given Chris’ history with them, but they’re the one band I actually like more that Squeeze, so I’m not complaining). The support act were brilliant, but like all support acts they mumbled their own introduction (and if anyone does know who they are, please let me know). Chris’ voice was on absolutely top form, and told amusing little stories between songs. Line up included Chris, Dorie Jackson, Boo Hewerdine and David Saw. Set included (from memory): On My Own I’m Never Bored, Cowboys Are My Weakness, Fat As A Fiddle, Up The Junction, Tempted, Goodbye Girl, Passion Killer, Happy Once Again, London Boys (Bowie cover), Black Coffee In Bed, The Other Man In My Life, Take Me I’m Yours, Slap And Tickle, Cool For Cats, Is That Love, and (one other song that I didn’t recognise).

I shall now try and get tickets for Maidstone.
