A brilliant evening in England in Summer, so it was dull, grey and overcast with occasional light drops of rain, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of a large crowd which filled Castle Gardens in historic Rochester. Squeeze played all the crowd pleasing hits but plenty of more obscure album tracks such as The Knack, Model, Melody Motel and It’s So Dirty.

Chris Difford was on wonderful form, dancing, wiggling, teasing and bum-shaking along like a dervish. The crowd loved him being so animated. Plus he sang Slaughtered, Gutted and Heartbroken. He also sang the obligatory Cool For Cats in a three-song encore which included Slap & Tickle and Up the Junction – and then Chris suggested Hourglass as a final number which sounded great.

The crowd was enthusiastic and positive. A great evening! I’ll photograph the setlist and post it later. Great to see so many friends there.

Last night was just superb, there was a packed crowd but enough room to move about without getting knocked about. There was a great atmosphere and the hits were very well recieved by the Rochester crowd. Squeeze were in fantastic form and I agree Mr Difford and Mr Bentley were the most animated I’ve seen in years. I hope they enjoyed it as much as they appeared to. It was especially nice to get to properly meet and chat with the hard core fans. I loved it. Roll on Greenwich.

The overcast and cloudy skies certainly didnt dampen the spirits of a lively crowd who danced and sang along to a lively SQUEEZE set…. We were treated to all the hits and some album tracks that dont often see the light of day.
The band seemed very upbeat on stage and reallly looked like they enjoyed themselves and this transmitted to the crowd…..A great night, next stop Greenwich!!
