I listen to this passage over and over again :

Immediately she’s barred
Their hearts are wooden

And I’m convinced Glen is singing “Immediately she’s bark”, which would go well with the imagery of the following line “their hearts are wooden”.

The name of the venue was Merlyn’s, a much loved and missed club on State Street. As I remember, it was a great show.

I remember linking this theme song at the time, when I was still a child. But I had no idea that it was sung by Paul Young and written by Difford and Tilbrook.
