Up The Creek
Up The Creek
(Tilbrook)
It was now the only place open late
Playing loud music in questionable taste
She asked me to dance and I said “OK”
I slipped into the groove and was doing great
We didn’t say much I gurned and grinned
She looked so fresh and there was me tinned
I said to her tell me about you
She said I know more than you think I do
Memories may be beautiful and yet
There are some things that I’d rather forget
Singing along with everything from Chic to Abba
It’s probably time for me to do the decent thing and get a cab
And blasting in my ears it’s ‘Dancing Queen’!
My co-ordination’s fantastic
And I’m looking older than I feel
We danced for a while and though I’m chunky
It has never stopped me feeling funky
She mentioned someone from long ago
I said what a surprise do say Hello
And it put a stop to my dreams
With me and her and custard creams
Her friends were leaving, they say she should come
She said “I’ll remember you to my Mum”
Memories may be beautiful and yet
There are some things that I’d rather forget
Singing along with everything from Abba to Chic
I think it’s probably time that I left Up The Creek
But meanwhile blasting in my ears it’s ‘Dancing Queen’!
My co-ordination’s fantastic
And I’m looking older than I feel
Blasting in my ears it’s ‘Le Freak’ say Chic
Ain’t you got no homes to go to
As the lights go on at Up The Creek
