hi

i saw squeeze play at The LSE in London in May 1981, but its not listed.
I don’t know the date. although I think it was pssibly on one of the bank holiday weekends. They were supported by the Distractions and Red Beans and rice.

I don’t have a ticket stub or anything, but I do remember Squeeze came on very late !! Somebody else must recall this…

I was at this show. It was a “secret” thing announced in the Standard. Squeeze played as a quartet without Paul Carrack then as Jools Holland was there, someone found a piano and he got up and did “Mess Around” and an older Squeeze tune – I can’t remember which one, maybe “Get Smart” or “Wrong Side of the Moon”. Tony Benn was there too. And then “East Side Story” came out – they did a couple off that which I’d never heard before like “Someone Else’s Bell” and “Is That Love” which was out as a single.

Squeeze played LSE Haldane Room on Saturday 7 March 1981 according to my diary. They were supported by Beat Roots, Distractions, 3 Musketeers, Red Beans and Rice. The Squeeze set included Another nail in my heart, Pulling mussels from a shell, Slap and tickle, Up the junction and Cool for cats. I think this was part of a student Rag week event and was followed by the film Omen 2 in the Old Theatre.
