A summer between college years, I was a self-supporting student, hence, broke. My mom took me to NY for 5 days–suddenly, I was rich–staying on Central Park South, riding in cabs, only meeting Mom for breakfast and dinner–she’d shop; I’d go to museums and explore neighborhoods. I heard Squeeze were playing but were sold out. But the concert was outside, so I took a cab to The Pier, thinking I could at least listen. We pulled up, a guy opened the door of the cab for me and asked if I had my ticket yet. Twenty buck later, I was in. It was *fantastic*!! People had tour shirts on from years and years previous, and it was a concert full of fans as huge as me. At a lot of concerts you’ll hear folks sing along with the chorus of the most popular songs–at this concert it was practically a sing-along–folks singing the whole songs along with the band. So great. And general admission, so I got right up close. So, of course, I went back the next night even though that one was sold out, too! Plus, I was temporarily rich, thanks to Mom–I bought tour shirts and all kinds of stuff for friends back home. Sweet.
