Okay, so I have something to confess…. I’d never seen Glenn solo until this evening! Wow, what a revelation, no wonder you lot are always dashing off to see him! What a lovely, talented man. The evening was full of entertainment, and Glenn looked happy and contented on stage. The room was full of friendly and polite music lovers, and I couldn’t help but grin for the whole evening, accompanied by the man and a pint of ‘Gem’ – great venue!

So the evening starts off at eight o’clock with the delightful and warm Steve Poltz (www.poltz.com). If you haven’t seen Steve before, you must make it for his set – it’s fab! One man, his voice, a tenor guitar, an acoustic guitar, great little stories and a lot of facial expressions! Oh and not to forget a song about a sewing machine.

Once Steve was over, there was a small break before Glenn appeared on his own on stage. It was a pleasant set, with lots of talking inbetween songs, He played, ‘Someone Else’s Bell’, ‘Monkey On You’, quite possibly the strangest version of ‘Up The Junction’ I have ever heard (but I’m not going to tell you any more about that), and some others that I can’t remember. It was finished off with ‘Bing a Bong’, which was just excellent, and had everyone smiling.

Then for the third and final part of the evening, where Glenn was joined by a Simon Hanson on percussion and Chris McNally on keys, acoustic bass, harmonium and uke. There was a mix of new and old songs, ‘Chat line Larry’, ‘Peters Got a Plan’, ‘Parallel World’, a cute little song sung by Chris (can someone tell me what this is called?) and a song sung by Simon called ‘Kev and Dave’, haha truly amazing!

Finally the encore, YAY (although I didn’t want it to end)! Where the boys were joined by Steve Poltz and they did ‘Tempted’, and ‘Take Me I’m Yours’. Dreams certainly are made of this. What a wonderful evening, I can’t wait to see it all again! Although I’m not too sure on those beards!

  Nice revue Alex, you’ve really given a sense of the warmth and joy of the evening to those of us unable to get there.
  Chris’ song is called Hello There.
  Will you make it to any other shows?

Brilliant,just sounds the same as when he first sang it.Glenns voice hasn’t changed much
