Squeeze – Established 1973

packetofthree 19 April 2012 packetofthree blog

Here’s Paul Jones’s brilliant idea for a logo celebrating Difford and Tilbrook’s partnership in Squeeze – as the latest t-shirt in the Squeeze shop says, ‘Established 1973’.

Paul says:

My idea for an alternative logo to commemorate the founding of the partnership which became Squeeze.
You could of course do this in all of the fonts/typefaces used on Squeeze releases over the years. The Babylon And On style would look great.

So are there any budding designers out there? Fancy designing a Squeeze logo? Squeeze merchandise? If you’d like to showcase your ideas, please use the Contact page – we’re really looking forward to hearing from you and seeing your designs :) I’ll show all the best ideas here on Packet of Three.

Since it’s the 40th anniversary of Glenn and Chris meeting in 2013 it would also be great to hear your ideas for celebratory events. Squeezefest anyone?

I’m up for a Squeezefest. Let’s pick a date. Why, all of that sounds a bit naugh…oh well.

You would spring this on me while I’m still hyped from Napa! Graphic Design is my gig–been at it since 1988. Is there a deadline?

There’s no deadline, no prizes and it’s just for fun – but you’ll have the most appreciative audience!

I’ll put in my two bits to suggest a deep-cuts only tour!

Saw “SQUEE73 Live” on a board outside a pub last week, thought it might be a tribute act.

Thanks for the questions Alan - it's not in the 'Singles 45s and Under' songbook. You might like to try asking in the SQUEEZE Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/squeezebook for help. There are many musicians there.

Do you happen to know where I could get sheet music for this song? I can't seem to find it and want to do this song as a solo with piano. Even better if I could get the key lowered...

Thanks Finlay - your attention to detail is much appreciated! I think you're right, the word should be 'find' rather than 'fight' - that's what I can hear. Fight works well too, though! I can't pay too much attention to...

Re. 'Funny how you still fight me right here at home' I've always read that line as 'Funny how you still find me right here at home' which also works better within the context of the lines that precede and...

OMG how did Chris write such amazing lyrics at such a young age! He really is one of the greatest songwriters of our time. This brings back so many memories for me of the days at Lindsey House with Nicky...
