  Thanks very much Sue – I only had the first three songs to take them as there was no pit or barrier and I was in everyone’s sight. I tried a few experimental techniques only a few of which worked – I’m pleased with one or two of them.

A brilliant evening of entertainment in Sale with friends and a warm appreciative audience. The Waterfront Arts Centre is in a pleasant spot beside the canal just behind the Town Hall. The Co-Operative played two sets with a beer break inbetween. Glenn introduced the emotional One Day I’ll Fly Away by saying: “This song came on the jukebox and we thought what a remarkable and beautiful song. Always thought that. So we went back and worked it out. I say we worked it out, it took us about 6 hours to work out what the chords were in the middle.” At the end there was a snatch of I Feel Love and after playing it Glenn dedicated the song to Donna Summer.

At the start of the second set Glenn came on solo to play Is That Love. When the band joined him and the evening was coming to an end, someone from the audience shouted for Up the Junction to which Dennis Greaves replied, “Isn’t it Up the Junction not Oop the Junction?” It’s a dangerous thing mocking a northern accent!
