The Plug is a new venue to me in Sheffield after the sad boarded-up demise of The Boardwalk. Work and an evening car dash meant I just missed the start of Glenn’s set at The Plug but the audience was already warmed up. Glenn did a great Elvis cover (which I’d never heard before) of ‘Dixieland Rock’. After Glenn’s appearance at the Royal Albert Hall to sing with Elvis Costello he was full of stories and the audience loved his rendition of ‘From A Whisper to a Scream’ done solo rather than as a duet. Hammer Thumb, Cortisone injections and Russel Crowe were all topics of conversation as well as Rowan’s embarrassment about her 16th birthday song in the front row. I loved ‘Through The Net’.

Thankfully Snipturn was there with his usual extensive array of video gear so I have high hopes of him posting something on YouTube (and on here!) Here’s my special request for ‘Vaity Fair’.

A great night – and a pleasure to see Glenn completely solo but I do worry about places which only serve Guinness from cans because the ‘pump’ on the bar is false. Worrying.

What a great night that was – possibly my favourite ever gig. This man is amazingly talented and can turn it on solo for a small intimate venue just as well as he does when he performs with the band.

I’d forgotten how much I like “Vanity Fair”.
