Artist Info Newsletter no 52

We have just recently moved office so apologies for not being in contact for a while but we have been unable to access our email list for a while. All back up and running now, very exciting to be in new offices.

We currently have a competition running, details below:

COMPETITION TIME! To answer this question you will need access to the tour program/brochure that was on sale (and you can still buy it from the shop) on the last UK Squeeze Tour… Answers on an email to competition@quixoticrecords.com.

The Question: On the cover is a kind of photo-montage of ‘Squeeze-land’ where you will find many references to Squeeze songs or lyrics, some obvious, some rather more subtle… How many are there and what are they? The cover spreads over onto the back where the dates are but for the purpose of this competition, please do NOT include any references featured on the ‘flyer’. (Someone else did the artwork for the flyer which we stylised for the program and we have no idea why there is a crucifix on it!). See thumbnail in left column.
The prize: 2 x Squeeze T shirts from the last tour (design – subject to availability).
Glenn Tilbrook’s latest demo CD (signed)
Chris Difford’s latest album (signed)
2 x tickets to a Squeeze show in the UK or the US (excluding festivals and one-off shows)
The Small Print: The Judge’s decision is final… If you spot some reference that was not intended (eg if you find a song where the word ‘sky’ is mentioned, then we are sorry but that won’t count. The idea is not to find as many as possible but to find all the ones that were intended. We know this may make things a little ambiguous but we hope not too much. There are no ‘tricks’ so just have a little fun with it! All correct answers will be put in a hat and one winner will be picked at random.

Closing date is 30th April, announcement 9th May.

Glenn and The Fluffers are currently working on the new album due out late September, they are all very excited about how things are going.

Universal have finally released the first wave of re-releases of the back catalogue for Squeeze. The albums currently available are Frank, Ridiculous, Argy Bargy and Sweets From A Stranger. These are all available from the shops on www.quixoticrecords.com and www.glenntilbrook.com. They all include previously unreleased material, demos etc.

The Squeeze shows are underway in the UK now and are going very well.

On sale at all the shows and from tomorrow from www.quixoticrecords.com and www.glenntilbrook.com (due to demand from the US fans!) are some amazing Quintessential tour programs. 28 full colour pages packed with interviews with the band, never before seen photos old and new, many from Squeeze’s private collections, back stage production secrets and much more. These pages celebrate Squeeze’s long history and their place in music today. The cover (which spills over to the back) has Squeeze song related elements on it and we will be running a competition once the tour is over to spot all the references (this is harder than it first seems). The winner will get two tickets to a future Squeeze show and a few other goodies to be announced.

Glenn and The Fluffers will have their first full album together released next September. To promote this there are some band shows already booked and now on sale to you only until Friday 30th November when they go on general sale. We have been assured that where there are seats in the venue the best have been reserved for this pre-sale link:

There are no Glenn solo or band shows planned for the rest of the year now. Glenn has been hard at work training for a trip of a lifetime.

Glenn is trekking to base camp of Mount Everest with the Love Hope Strength Foundation. This is a charity event to help raise money and awareness for cancer and luekemia sufferers. They plan to do the highest ever recorded gig!

Below is a link to the website. If any of you would like to donate, it is a well worthwhile cause and you can go to Glenn’s page and donate on his behalf, you can also leave a message of support for him.

http://lovehopestrength.com/everest/

He leaves for Kathmandu on 10th October and will return to the UK on the 30th.

All at Quixotic are very proud of him and wish him the very best of luck!

Glenn’s next solo record is due for release September 2008 and there should be another demo CD out soon!

Thanks for all the continued support and hope to see some of you at the upcoming shows.
