No Show Jones

No Show Jones
(Difford/Tilbrook)

No show Jones
No show Jones

The cake was delivered it sat in its box
Its two plastic figures stood lonely on top
The kids were excited but couldn’t digest
Why mother was crying in her wedding dress

No show Jones
What a heavy night
No show Jones
Hiding from the light
With a throat like the dance of a sheep
That you count as you nod off to sleep

No show Jones
No show Jones

Meanwhile the reception was empty of guests
The band packed its gear up and soon they had left
The gossip was spreading through each bar in town
Like fire through a match well it soon got around

No show Jones
What a heavy night
No show Jones
Hiding from the light
With a throat like the dance of a sheep
That you count as you nod off to sleep

No show Jones
No show Jones

She received a letter slipped under the door
He said he was sorry but knew he was sure
What filled him with panic and left him in doubt
When he woke that morning and stumbled around
To find in his bedroom the stag night surprise
The girl left sleeping with mascarared eyes
Through his hangover he cried with his pain
He asked for forgiveness and her hand again

No show Jones
What a heavy night
No show Jones
Hiding from the light
With a throat like the dance of a sheep
That you count as you nod off to sleep

No show Jones
You better watch that cowboy
No show Jones
Make sure he’s within your sight
No show Jones
Don’t let him stay out all night
No show Jones
He’ll pull you through the dirt
No show Jones
Leaving you to feel the hurt
No show Jones
Though you love him without trust
No show Jones
You might not see him for dust
No show Jones
You better watch that cowboy
No show Jones
You better watch that cowboy
