Sweet as a Nut

Sweet as a Nut
(Difford/Tilbrook)

Have you been to this station before
It’s so good to see you again
Signing records at the record store
Marking time with a leaking pen
Press a button and spin that disk
Push the boat out let’s take a risk
Pump the big hand show ‘em your teeth
Give them pleasure leave without grief

Laying on my bunk I was thinking
My life is like a submarine
I keep coming up and then sinking
It’s a weird and wonderful dream
The year rolls round and here we are
With our big drums and our guitars
This scene is built on scrambled eggs
It must be time to shake some legs

Turning the dial in the darkness
I hear the familiar sound
Of ambience floating round

Press a button and spin that disk
Push the boat out let’s take a risk
Pump the big hand show ‘em your teeth
Give them pleasure leave without grief

And be as sweet as a nut
With every day that arrives
And with commitment in place
I’ll have the fear paralyzed
Without being reduced to a slut
I’ll be as sweet as a nut
