Time for another of an occasional series of glimpses into the Squeeze archive for you. I had to drag this out of the archive recently as Chris and Glenn have both just contributed to a new project on one of the people in this photograph:

  Well spotted Bill. You’ve correctly identified the members of Squeeze as well as producer of the Packet of Three EP and the first Squeeze album John Cale from the Velvet Underground. You’ve also spotted Miles Axe Copeland III the ‘Entertainment Executive’ and manager of Squeeze and The Police. It was taken in April 1977 – presumably near Pathway Studios.
  
  But who’s the other mystery man in a beard? He was destined to be incredibly important to the whole future and direction of the band.
  
  The photographer wasn’t Lawrence Impey though…

  Jools’s dad wasn’t the photographer – and he’s not the chap on the far right of the picture either. I wonder if someone will guess…

    My sources indicate that Derek Green is the mystery man and the photographer was Jill Furmanovsky.

      Well it’s definitely taken by Jill Furmanovsky Dave – well identified. In fact, the same photo session is featured on the back of the sleeve of the reissued Packet of Three EP on Deptford Fun City Records.
      
      So who was your source for Derek Green – A&M Records’ Managing Director?

        I knew I had seen the photo before but couldn’t remember where, and then I had a eureka moment – Jools autobiography !
